Remembering Frank McCourt and Walter Cronkite

July 20, 2009 • in the news

This week, two heroes of the written and spoken word died. In remembrance of their lives and achievements, we’ve placed two exclusive collections on the Scribd homepage.

The Frank McCourt collection includes his bestselling memoir, “Angela’s Ashes,” a review of the novel’s film adaptation, Lonely Planet’s history of Ireland, and a book of advice that includes McCourt’s treatement for writers block — “When in doubt, write about a funeral.”

Walter Cronkite’s Scribd collections include “My America: What My Country Means to Me,” famous quotes by Walter Cronkite, a citizen journalism overview, Cronkite’s biography, and Vietnam analysis.

“And that’s the way it is.”
