Scribd’s New Homepage

July 10, 2012 • in the news, Product

Scribd unveiled an update of our homepage today. The changes usher in a renewed focus on discovery of content and showcase an evolution of Scribd’s brand and design.

Active Scribd members can still access their reading feed and profile functions on a continuously updating panel on the far right. The remainder of the homepage is split into various sections that feature handpicked content, “Best of the Day” selections alongside a variety of curated publishers, readers, collections, and trending documents. One of the objectives is to surface interesting documents for our community – more than 25 million documents have been uploaded by our readers.

The homepage also showcases publications by category. The editorial team is rolling out groups of articles in category-specific landing pages such as “In the News,” and “Technology.”

Special events and topical categories will also be used to create special landing pages such as the “Olympics” and the upcoming presidential election.

While the editorial recommendations reflect newsworthy documents and trending publications, writers will be featured prominently, giving users an opportunity to connect and provide exposure to the creative writers that call Scribd home.
