This week, E-Reads has joined Scribd, and they bring a ton of fantastic content specialized around romance novels, sci-fi, fantasy, and difficult to source, out-of-print books.

For sci-fi in particular, we are super excited about Brian W. Aldiss, named Grand Master by the Science Fiction Writers of America and an author with over 50 years of experience. Aldiss was inducted into the Sci-Fi & Fantasy Hall of Fame in 2004. Check out his Nebula award-winning Forgotten Life.

We also have featured Aldiss’ Helliconia series – an epic chronicle that details the rise and eventual fall of a thousand year-old civilization as it marches through a long progressio of seasons — each of which lasts for centuries. Originally published starting in 1928, the trilogy begins with Helliconia Spring (published in 1982), Helliconia Summer (1983) and Helliconia Winter (1985).

Here is a look at one of the original covers when it was published:

  4. I will, just wait a minute, said a sqkauey voice in the distance. Suddenly, something pushed me over. Lauren I shouted thinking it was her.I didn’t remember much else except blunngg strung which was something a voice kept repeating. Looking around, I noticed I wasn’t looking at the Royal Planet any more I was on my way to the Royal planet. Whilst I looked around, I was shocked at the sight which lay before me. I was in some sort of aliens space-ship Petrified,I stood up walking over to the aliens who were sitting in grey chairs. Politely, I tapped one of them on the shoulder Excuse me but why I am I here? I asked the big fat emerald-green alien. Shes awake! he shouted with pure excitement.Every single alien, which was 10 to be presise, starred at me with their big goggly eyes. Captin, we have landed seeze the girl! the ugliest alien commanded. Two aliens, one of couse was the captin, dragged me out of their giant ship and shoved me onto the Royal Planet. I heard whispers If we push the girl off of the planet now, then we will be able to go back to planet Jupiter and seeze all their fire to burn Earth! Four aliens came towards me, in self defense I busted out some karate moves . Thats no good now sweetie. They all said in their terrifing voices. Please please, don’t burn Earth and please don’t push me off here i’m oly a young girl, please. I plead. All of their frowns all turned upside down as they lead me into the space-ship once again. After hours, I arrived home. ( safely ) Although the aliens hadn’t killed me, I was sure my mum would when she found out I had left the house! The Royal Planet, was still shining in the sky when I got home. These aliens I had met, they weren’t ever going to try to kill someone again.I’m sure of it!By Zoex
