The International Red Cross Remembers Its Roots

This week the International Red Cross is remembering Solferino and the horrific battle that took place there on 24 June, 1859. They're also paying tribute to Henry Dunant, the man who came up with the idea for the Red Cross and Red Crescent after witnessing the suffering of tens of thousands of wounded and dying soldiers on that same battlefield. Here is a must read (Dunant's firsthand account of the devastation) that you don’t want to miss.
