Gunman Wounds GOP Congressman, Fire Destroys London Apartment Building, and More

A gunman wielding a rifle opened fire at Republican lawmakers Wednesday morning, during a baseball practice for a charity event. House GOP Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana and an aide named Zach Barth were both shot and expected to recover from their injuries. 
The gunman was identified as 66-year-old James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois; he was shot by Scalise’s security detail and later died from his injuries. Read the story from The AP.

London Apartment Building Fire

A major fire broke out early Wednesday in a 24-story apartment building in London. London Ambulance Service said 74 patients were being treated in six hospitals across London, and that 20 people were in “critical care.” At least six people have died in the blaze, and police warn the death toll is likely to rise.
