Amazon To Buy Whole Foods, Trump Adopts Harder Line on Cuba, and More

Amazon is looking to get into the brick-and-mortar grocery store business. And it’s starting this effort with a bang: It’s purchasing Whole Foods in a deal valued at $13.7 billion.

But this might not be the only deal Amazon has up its sleeve. The retail giant is also looking into buying work chat platform Slack, according to people familiar with the situation. Buying Slack would help Seattle-based Amazon bolster its enterprise services as it seeks to compete with rivals like Microsoft and Alphabet Inc.’s Google. Read the story from AdAge.

Trump on Cuba

President Trump is expected to roll back some of his predecessor’s policies on Cuba regarding travel and trade. He won’t go so far as to sever diplomatic ties with Havana or shutter the U.S. embassy that reopened there in 2015. But he will impose new limits on commercial transactions that involve the Cuban military.
